"The Path to Peace is Paved with Prayer"

Watching an interview with Max Lucado and his wife, Denalyn, has helped me get a better perspective while writing this year’s Thanksgiving blog.  We’ve all been struggling this last year and a half, with layers upon layers piling up of fear and uncertainty.  “America – the Land of Stars and Stripes has become the Land of Stress and Strife!”

“America – the Land of Stars and Stripes has become the Land of Stress and Strife!”                                                                                     -Max Lucado

Look at what Apostle Paul wrote (while he was in prison) …….” Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, through prayer, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” Phil. 4:6

“…. with thanksgiving….”.  You’ve probably heard this over the years, but still is good advice today…As you are praying during this stressful situation, start thanking God for all the blessings in your life…starting with A and continuing to Z.  This is a great exercise to do anytime.

“An anxious heart is an ungrateful heart, but a grateful heart is a peaceful heart."                                                                                                   -Max Lucado

Listen…people will disappoint you and let you down.  No one is immune to that. But God never disappoints. Sometimes we don’t understand His actions but know that we can always understand His Heart. He loves you and me with ‘an everlasting love.’

Our 1st command – “Love the Lord your God”. Our 2nd command – “Love others as yourself.” The first command must be obeyed before we can obey the second.  What a crucial time in our country for obedience, to God the Father, and to others.

Praying for all of us to have hearts of thanksgiving and peace as we go through this holiday season.
