FREEDOM - Our Right and Responsibility

 “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just Powers from the consent of the governed — That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to affect their Safety and Happiness… For the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor.”

Many of us will read that first sentence and think…already know this, studied it in school. I’ll just skip down and read the next paragraph. Please, don’t do that! Go back. Read it slowly. Focus on the words. Take it in for the poetic beauty, the encouragement, and the charge that is given to us…Live out and fulfill the responsibility of living in a Free Land.

Our founding fathers knew how important it was to them and generations to come, the rights and the responsibilities we all share living in America! Let us all revisit our heritage and be grateful to God that HE is the one who holds all the power in heaven and earth to guide, protect, and provide our Freedom to enjoy a life worth living. To honor Him as our Almighty God and Father.

May we all have a renewed understanding and commitment to God this 4^th of July! Praise and honor to Him, our "Heavenly Founding Father."
